Solar Farm At Chelwood

On 12th September 2014, Bath & North East Somerset Council quietly approved an application to construct a Solar Farm with on-site equipment rooms and plant, security fencing, CCTV cameras, landscaping and associated works on land at [Parcel 1326], Chelwood, Bristol.

This development will cover an area of 9.5 hectares of grade 3 agricultural land, currently set out to grass. The site lies directly adjacent to two Sites of Nature Conservation Interest.

The map below shows the approximate proximity of this site to the separate site at Marksbury. It does not take a great deal of imagination to see the possibility of these sites merging into one mega-site at some time in the future, in the absence of  effective opposition.
